nice mugshot, kit
so about the meeting... This time not many people attained (unfortunately) and this's kinda the only sad thing about the meeting.
Since Luar did the brief report, I decide to go lengthy.
We will probably have Hong Kong MAX 2006. I guess those who want to challenge Luar will have their chances. We had some interesting discussion about "adobizing" MM products: my favourite one is having the AfterFX timeline to take over the poor Flash one.
Flash-on-phone will be the strong marketing focus, and it's good to hear the long waiting mobile development framework will be coming in 2006. For those of you who are still thinking about moving to mobile devices, the tips is start planning killer mobile apps now and wait for Adobe/Nokia to contact you.
This time we have 5 speakers.
Our Director Master hoyin shared his research on integration of Director and flash with some great demos. Issues about communication and performance are discussed and there are many useful tips. My take away: Lock-step.
hoyin, I hope you can do a Director series for our meeting, and I'm pleased to help.
Next we have mkit to share his x'mas card project. A nice hack on Flashkit and the work speaks for itself. My only complain: WHERE IS THE SOURCE CODE?
Colin is our permanent speaker and every time he manages to share something new. This time he said security, probably in response to the presentation of the MAX speaker. He generously explained many measures used in his previous projects to make my hack easier. Of course I can't say them here... sorry.
I guess his company must be in perfect shape judging from the works and his client list. Interested to know when he's hiring.
No one except his wife knows how Luar earns his living, but his presentation gave me some clues. Probably a KMB employee, he shared his painful, award-winning flash mobile app. I can understand why he got the MAX after this presentation.
Patrick, another mobile freak, showed his ambitious MAX entry. A working flash organiser hinting to the possibilites of the future mobile apps. In the presentation, he demonstrated a restaurant booking prototype.
Looking at the source file reminds me of those dark days writing tellTargets. I guess I can't jump into the mobile world until Flashlite 2.0 arrives.
The meeting ended at around 11 (?) This is a very enjoyable one. My thanks to all speakers.
I'm thinking about doing workshop next time. What do you think?
p.s. Next time I hope we can have something AS3, strongly requested by Subai.
